In 2000, The River School became the first school in the United States to include children with deafness in classrooms with their hearing peers. Located in Washington, DC, we are recognized nationally for developing research-based best practices in language and literacy and for innovative approaches in inclusive education. The River School’s unique educational model serves approximately 220 children 18 months to Grade 5 in an inclusive setting. Faculty, staff and administrators at River are energetic and dedicated to our mission and children.
